I am experiencing this very same issue with WordPress managed hosting and it is very very frustrating. Hi acamilicko. Man, we already know how to connect to SFTP of managed WordPress server, may seem you didn't read above what is the issue. Like I am saying I can't steer the car driving wheel, and you say: You have to enter the car first. Man, I entered the car, but I can't steer the wheel. I have the very same issue as people above, so connected to SFTP, can download all, but when I go to upload any file, it says: Connecting, connected, starting transfer, and then freezes for seconds, does 2 more repeats of the same process and then fails to upload file.
If I am replacing existing file on the server, it leaves at FTP file with 0 bytes, empty file, and in that way, if that was some theme file, it destroys theme. FileZilla reports "Connection closed due to software error". The issue not yet solve and it's more than a week just a simple ftp issue. Hi dialoghub. Follow the video tutorial below. I was having the same issue and this fixed it for me. Hopefully this helps some of you. I had same issue. Instead of using the domain name as the host I used the IP.
Was able to upload fine. I tried cyberduck, disabling my firewall, punching a wall, but none of it worked. Either it was a coincidence or just using the IP address solved the issue. Changing to the IP address totally fixed my issue! GoDaddy needs to add this solution to their help files. Hi magicman94 ,. Thanks for the info magicman Looks like I spoke too soon. Making that change causes the server key to change every time I try putting a new file.
I'm back to the same issue as before. The only solution I've been able to find that works, but I have to do it every time is to open a Windows command prompt and enter the following:. After doing that, I have a small time during which I can put files with no issue. After a minute or so, I'm right back to getting the error every time. I have this same exact issue, can't edit any files. Please help me to fix. Currently facing this exact same issue on my new site.

This is not a Freeway issue - as most GoDaddy customers upload successfully - so it may be related to a lack of information or misunderstandings with GoDaddy's documentation sent out to new customers. The video states that when you enter your domain name in a browser, you should see a page with "This Web site is coming soon" heading at the top - if you don't see that, you will need to update your domain name's nameservers.
The video shows how to upload using FileZilla - but there is no reason why you can't use Freeway to upload the files without leaving the application. Because each host uses slightly different naming conventions for each of the steps required to log on successfully to sites hosted on their servers, we will explain what you need to enter for GoDaddy uploads.
In the GoDaddy FTP video they state that you need to have three pieces of information to hand - the "domain name", your "user name" and your "password". In the screenshot below, you can see Freeway's FTP Upload dialog - so we can explain what needs to be used in each field.
